The annual Halloween yard display at one of our fantastic residential homes in Bundaberg has become a highly anticipated event for the local community.

For the past four years, Support Workers and young people at our Bundaberg residence have gone above and beyond to come up with creative ideas for spooky costumes and decorations for their displays.

Every year the local community get behind the event, featuring the Halloween yard display on several local Facebook groups.

“Like a Christmas lights tour, our Halloween displays have now become an anticipated event for the local area,” said Nicholas Horvatic, Lifestyle Solutions.

For the two months leading up to Halloween, team members and young people in care hold meetings to plan and discuss ideas for themes, costumes and decorations.

“Each year we might have some new young people that haven’t been involved with our Halloween celebrations before, so we hype it up in the house, explain what we do and show photos of the setup from previous years. Everyone gets really excited and loves to be involved.”

“A few of our other residential homes are now jumping on board with the celebrations and our teams enjoy the friendly competition for who has the biggest and scariest Halloween displays,” said Nicholas.

This years’ theme was a Government compound that has been attacked by zombies.

Over 500 trick or treaters from the local area attended the yard display this year.

“The 300 lolly bags that were put together by the team ran out in just over an hour!” said Nicholas.

Well done to everyone involved – we can’t wait to see what’s in store for next years’ Halloween!
