Lifestyle Equals Sign We see you

More than 20 parents, carers and educators attended our Growing with Autism Conference on 21 January 2020, at our unique sensory space in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne.

The conference was facilitated by Cristina Isaac, Autism Educator and Behaviour Specialist, who covered topics including:

  • Behaviour is Communication: Understanding Behaviour
  • Positive and Practical Strategies to Support Behaviour, Learning and Social Success at School and Home.

Cristina shared her positive and practical learning strategies with a focus on triggers for behaviours. “There’s a trigger before the behaviour, then comes how we respond to the behaviour,” said Cristina. Improving behaviour and lessening anxiety with proactive strategies, including sensory tools and positive reinforcement, creates an environment for open communication and growth. The key learning outcome for parents and carers was that all behaviour has a purpose.

For parents, learning the concept ‘behaviour is communication’ is vital to their child’s journey. "Our kids are given a diagnosis of autism, but parents are not given the tools on understanding behaviour and specific strategies that support learning, behaviour and social success," said Cristina.

Growing with Autism Conference was proudly supported by Lifestyle Solutions. If you would like to learn more about our autism support services, or our dynamic therapeutic space, Moonee Ponds =Hub, send us an enquiry or call 1800 634 748.
