Wallsend Hub celebrated Christmas with a disco, festive outfits, and lunch on Thursday 19 December 2019.

Our Customer, Hayden, who's been coming to day program activities at the Hub for more than 3 years, got into the spirit with tinsel-covered antlers and enjoyed a special morning tea and lunch prepared at the Hub kitchen. When Hayden's not out bowling or going to the library, his favourite activity is cooking, in particular chopping onions. "They don't make me cry!" explained Hayden when asked why he enjoys a task many of his Hub friends find uncomfortable.

Tenisha, who's also been coming to the Hub for more than three years, shared her singing talent with a karaoke request for one of her favourite artists, Pink, while Donny showed off his impressive dancing skills, enjoying a boogie on the dance floor with Wallsend Hub Facilitator, Toni Hunt.

Toni says she enjoys seeing the journey of growth and change for customers like Tenisha, Hayden and Donny. "We see people start coming to the Hub and they're not confident, they're quiet and shy, and don't like to participate in activities, and at the Christmas party, you see those same people out dancing together, holding hands with their friends."

Wallsend Hub offers a variety of day programs for people living with disability. If you'd like to learn about our Wallsend Community Hub disability service, send us an enquiry.
