Lifestyle Equals Sign We see you

Orange local, Scott, had a big dream, a dream that has only been possible with the support of Lifestyle Solutions and his family – taking over the world, one alpaca at a time.

After connecting with Lifestyle Solutions a decade ago and finding out about self-management, Scott has been able to pursue his hobbies and, alongside his dedicated family members, has built his own alpaca farm.

“Being able to talk to Lifestyle Solutions and find out what we could do if we were self-managed funded, opened the doors to being able to allow Scott to live a much better life and a life that he wanted to lead, and achieve what he wanted to achieve,” said Scott’s father, Steve.

“It’s meant that Scott can control what he wants to do. He’s got choices.”

Along with his successful alpaca farm, Scott loves to sail and skydive, enjoys photography and is into motorsport racing.

Through his local disability sailing program, Sailability, Scott has the freedom to be independent and in control when out on the water.

“Sailing gives me a sense of freedom. I don’t need any assistance. It’s one of the few things I can actually do by myself,” said Scott.

Scott also met his now long-term Lifestyle Solutions’ Support Worker, Tim, at the program and the pair have formed a fantastic relationship.

“Tim isn’t really like a normal carer. He’s like a mate or a good friend,” said Scott.

“Scott and I get on really well. He’s got a good sense of humour. I did a Sailability program and got to know him and got to know the family and the rest is history,” said Tim.

Tim supports Scott with his everyday needs, from assistance at home to pursuing his interests in the community and has helped him gain independence to live the life he chooses.

“What I see is a young man who has been offered a lot of opportunity to pursue his likes and through that, he’s been given a lot of independence,” said Tim.
